Module 10

Is social justice evident in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Corona? Discuss.

Chief justices is responsible in promoting social justice but as what we can hear, read and see these people are the ones who are taking it away from the people. In the case of impeachment of Chief justice Corona, I can say that it is an evident of social justice. Evident in the since that he was responsible for everything that he did. Not declaring his properties and liability assets shows that he is hiding something that is illegal, since one should be proud for what he earned and what he got from working only if these things are achieved honestly. So, impeachment of Corona will help people to experience their rights as a citizen of the Philippines. And in that way he will suffer the consequences of his work. Since that money should go to those people who are in need yet he takes it away from them and enjoys living a luxurious life while these people are suffering.
It only shows that “Richer becomes richer and poor becomes poorer”.

Module 9

Talking about privacy, how far would you go for the sake of social justice? Justify.

The increasing sophistication of information technology with its capacity to collect, analyze and disseminate information on individuals has introduced a sense of urgency to the demand for legislation. Furthermore, new developments in medical research and care, telecommunications, advanced transportation systems and financial transfers have dramatically increased the level of information generated by each individual. Computers linked together by high speed networks with advanced processing systems can create comprehensive dossiers on any person without the need for a single central computer system. New technologies developed by the defense industry are spreading into law enforcement, civilian agencies, and private companies.
Privacy is about control, trust, and power in social situations and so rapidly implies ethical, political, and legal issues. But for the sake of social justice one may sometimes invade privacy.
How far would I go for the sake of social justice? Talking about this topic I can say that it’s really hard to tell how far I would go for the sake of social justice this is because people sometimes has a misconception when one is trying to help promote social justice, and sometimes ones who are doing dirty acts are always declared innocent. I can say that sometimes in order for me to promote social justice I would be able to break the laws and policies of the country, organizations and other. People are using the law to hide their anomalies and wrong doings, example of these are the government officials who are doing things for them to benefit.

Module 8

What computer abuse would you like to eradicate? How would you do it?

The computer abuse that I want to eradicate is flaming. Since the main objective of the flamers is to bait a person or groups of people to respond violently by posting provocative or controversial messages. Flamers and trolls post hostile, insulting, or derogatory messages that in the end do not attempt to further explain, convince, or at least clarify the point or topic. Basically, flamers and trolls do not respect other people's opinions and believe that they are superior or hold authority over other people in a certain medium or Internet community. Dealing with Flamers and Trolls whether intentional or not, flamers and trolls bait other people to respond with their emotions, so that they can gain the upper hand in the so-called “discussion”. The best way to deal with such people is to take control of your emotions. Emotions can cloud judgment and reasoning, fanning the flames of an Internet flamer, and making the issue bigger. Since flaming is just like getting into a discussion or fight with a friend or spouse where the person with the cooler head wins, or at least solves the problem. With an online counterpart, you want to pour water, cold water that is on the flame, not pour gasoline. If you encounter such offensive statements on your blog, favorite message board, or over a chatting service the following will help:

-         Be tolerant of criticism.
-         Don't be arrogant or proud.
-         Censorship can be bad.
-         Go with the flow.
-         Grab a Foothold.
-         The Failsafe.

The troll or flamer may steal the spotlight for a while, but in the end, it is all about you. If you really care about your credibility and reputation, don't stoop to the level of those people. By effectively managing and getting rid of flamers and trolls. you will be positively viewed by other people. It may not be easy at first, but once you get the hang of dealing with such people, you can easily shrug them off or even laugh at them. It surely won't be the last, and it is safe to say there will be more. Just remember to keep your head above water so you don't end up wasting your time.

Module 7

There are still enormous sources of misinformation on the world wide web, so how can you determine what is good information and what is bad information?

Classifying bad information from good information is not an easy task; this is because there are bad information that may sounds good, since it is properly made. If I were to determine which are bad information and which are good, then I will determine first the source of the information, if the source of information is reliable, the information is clear, it is useful, and has up to date fashion then I can say that this information is indeed good. Another way to identify good information is to be familiar with what is happening around you, since being a keen observer is a good ability so that nobody can fool you, and you know what you are up to.

In addition to classifying good information one must learn to:
-         Evaluate the purpose of the information.
-         Evaluate the content of the information.

These are the qualifications of good information:

1. Relevant
The information obtained and used should be needed for decision-making. it doesn't matter how interesting it is. Businesses are often criticized for producing too much information simply because their information systems can "do it". A good way of ensuring relevance is to closely define the objectives of any information reports. Another way to improve relevance is to produce information that focuses on "exceptions" - e.g. problems, high or low values, where limits have been exceeded.

2. Up-to-date
Information needs to be timely if it is to be auctioned. For example, the manager of a large retail business needs daily information on how stores are performing, which products are selling well (or not) so that immediate action can be taken. To improve the speed with which information is produced, businesses usually need to look at upgrading or replacing their information systems.

3. Accurate
As far as possible, information should be free from errors (e.g. the figures add up; data is allocated to the correct categories). The users of information should be informed whenever assumptions or estimates have been used. Accurate information is usually a function of accurate data collection. If information needs to be extremely accurate, then more time needs to be allocated for it to be checked. However, businesses need to guard against trying to produce "perfect" information - it is often more important for the information to be up-to-date than perfect.

4. Completeness
Information should be complete for the purpose. example; if you want to travel from Colombo to London and when there are few travel agencies that you can take services to travel from Colombo to London. When you are collecting information of the available flying alternatives, if you can collect only the different travel agency you are unable to take a decision. When you want to take a decision you should have information of the available flight times, charges, traveling path, etc. When information not complete they are unusable. Hence the completeness is an essential quality of good information.

5. Meet the needs of the User
Users of information have different needs. The managing director doesn't have time to trawl through thick printouts of each week's production or sales listings - he or she wants a summary of the key facts. The quality control supervisor will want detailed information about quality testing results rather than a brief one-line summary of how things are going. It is a good idea to encourage users to help develop the style and format of information reporting that they require.

6. Easy to use and understand
Information should be clearly presented (e.g. use summaries, charts) and not too long. It also needs to be communicated using an appropriate medium (e.g. email, printed report, presentation. Businesses should also consider developing "templates" which are used consistently throughout the organization - so that users get used to seeing information in a similar style.

7. Worth the cost
Often forgotten. Information costs money. Data is costly to collect, analyze and report. Information takes time to read and assimilate. All users should question whether the information they receive/have requested is worthwhile.

8. Reliable
Information should come from authoritative sources. It is good practice to quote the source used - whether it be internal or external sources. If estimates or assumptions have been applied, these should be clearly stated and explained.
After all, one must be very careful and be vigilant to what is happening in the world.

Module 5

Today, it is a fact that a lot of Filipino women are into online GOLD digging. You know what it means, right? Suppose one of them is your sister who happens to be your family's breadwinner. What would you do on this matter?

If it so happened that one of those Filipino women doing online gold digging is my sister who happens to be our family’s breadwinner then I have to talk to her. I will tell her for sure to stop doing this act, because it is not good even though she’s doing this for our family’s sake but I don’t want her to sacrifice herself, since she deserve something better than this. I will ask her to look for a wholesome job, and in that way she can raise our family rightly.

I don’t want to sacrifice my sister just for to have good life. I would prefer to live a life not that luxurious for as long as my family is safe and we have a good reputation since the price of doing online digging is not easy, the punishment from God the father is big. And we are raised to become God fearing individual.

But the final decision depends on her, for she already know the consequences, the disadvantages, and the advantages of doing this. She is responsible enough for every decision that she will make. We’re just beside her, we’ll support her no matter what happened.
